Specialized Applications and High Temperature Seals on Components Manufacturers that utilize high temperature seals, MEA seals (Membrane Electrode Assembly) or fuel cell seals face the multiple challenges of improving the seal’s performance and durability, while also reducing costs. This is especially true when dealing with Proton Exchange Membrane seals. The AMESSeal liquid delivery system automatically dispenses and bonds a thin bead of low-durometer elastomers directly onto metal, graphite or polymer substrates. When compared to traditional die-cut or molded gaskets, this process cuts the possible sources of
leakage in half.
Our patent pending process, where multiple layers of elastomers are applied, allows certain flexibilities. Ames can then adapt the process to meet our customers' specific sealing needs. Commonly, a multilayer gasket combines the compliance and sealing of silicone with the improved chemical and temperature resistance and durability of a fluoroelastomer. Using the AMESSeal for your Proton Exchange Membrane seals or high temperature seals allows for significant savings. The programmable liquid delivery system applies gaskets in an infinite number of complex patterns, but does not carry any upfront tooling or mold costs. Also, the cost of gaskets is even lower when material waste is eliminated and gasket assembly costs are lowered. Ames can also utilize its extensive compression and injection molding capabilities to fabricate die-cut or molded gaskets, as suits the client’s needs. MEA Seals and Wind Turbines MEA seals and Gas Diffusion Layers (GDL's) seals are accomplished through our extensive coatings processes. For wind turbines, the AMESShield coatings provide the same benefits offered to aircraft components, including protection against erosion due to sand and other FOD (foreign objects and debris). The ice-phobic characteristics of the turbine will also be significantly improved and the components will be much more durable, even in harsh environments. Solar Panels and Bipolar Plate Seals Many of the components in solar energy panels require protection from the elements. Our product capabilities to manufacture highly durable precision molded parts, protective coatings, and dispensed gaskets can all be applied to various solar panel components. In the same way that high temperature seals and MEA seals from Ames are superior, your bipolar plate seals and various solar panel components are in good hands with Ames. Proton Exchange Membrane seals can also be created with precision and durability using the AMESSeal process.
