Free Consult From Ames

In 1949 Ames made manufacturing history developing synthetic rubber compounds for the fabrication of coated typewriter platen rollers. They have been on the leading edge in the office automation industry since then, providing high-quality components and exceptional innovations.

Although technology has changed the face of today’s office, there is still constant demand for a wide variety of rollers and belts. Printers and copiers require fuser belts and rollers, developer rollers, document handling, and donor rolls, while laminators and mail sorting devices require durable and dependable components, which exhibit functional characteristics such as heat and abrasion resistance, compliance, and stable frictional properties.

Ames uses both conventional and state-of-the-art coating processes to create protective and precision coatings. Ames services a client base which includes global corporations like Xerox, Hewlett Packard, Pitney Bowes, and Flextronics. Products are supplied to clients in North America, Europe, Japan, China, and South America.
Various rubber products including fuser rolls, pressure rolls, donor rolls, transfer rolls, and developer rolls use specially designed compounds to meet client specifications including quality, functional performance, and overall value. Bonding elastomeric materials to various substrates like metal, plastic, and composite is a well developed art and technology at Ames over the last 60 years and continues to expand using on-site plasma surface modification techniques.

Ames employs grinding processes that achieve precise profiles and textures catered specifically to the intended function of the roller. Various finishes are available for any purpose or process necessary, as well as for these standard and typical applications and products:

Advanced Fusing Components
Ames has recently developed a Dent Resistant Coating technology (DRC) for use in the automation sector. The DRC series of fusing constructions with a thin Fluoropolymer top layer releases toner and resists surface dents, a common handling and fusing system defect. Ames continues coating development programs to improve toner release properties on fusing belts and rollers to keep pace with the newer oiless fusing systems while preserving dent resistance, compliance, and low surface energy properties. Ames coating technology development efforts will continue to stay ahead of the ever-changing demands of the office automation industry.
